Myler Black Seven Shank with Sweet Iron Low Ported Barrel Narrow MB 43LP

Level 2-3 Bit: Great for horses who have achieved a basic training, with a degree of balance and collection and is now progressing in a particular discipline or are close to being 'finished'.

 Often considered a Myler equivalent to the traditional mullen mouthpiece, the innovate design of this bit allows for independent movement of each side of the shank for better communication between horse and rider.

The purchase is angled slightly away from the horse to avoid rubbing while the slight port provides tongue relief and allows the horse to swallow comfortably. With the seven shank that creates indirect pressure, it is designed to be used with a curb strap that is to be attached to the purchase (curb straps can be found here)

The combination of fixed cheek and rein attachments allows the seven shank to apply pressure to the mouth, chin, and poll.


This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts. Harmless to horses, it has a sweet taste and promotes salivation. Black shank will discolor over time to an antique brown with its decorative stainless steel dots for a complete show worthy look.
